Sat 17 Nov: "Old Oak Lane and areas CPZ consultation"

The consultation

Following requests from residents, residents’ association and recommendations of ward councillors, the council is consulting this area for a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). A recent parking survey carried out by the council has identified a significant volume of parking pressure in the area.

While parking stress was evident previously, the area has been further burdened by increased activity in the area, and is likely to have more parking pressure when the new developments are completed. The introduction of controlled parking on roads around stations like Willesden, Harlesden, Sudbury, Greenford, etc and yellow line restrictions on Old Oak Common Lane are very likely to drive commuters to the uncontrolled roads in these areas for free parking. Willesden Junction tube and rail stations are only a short walking distance away from Old Oak Lane and Goodhall Street areas.

Your views

In consideration of the above, we have identified areas of parking concern as illustrated in the plan contained within the consultation document (core 1 and 2 and outer). These are the areas we are consulting for a CPZ. In recognition of the possible effect of parking displacement on to the roads south of core 1 and north of core 2, we would like to consult the residents of the roads in outer area 1 as well. Outer area 1 could be included in the CPZ, should one be introduced in any core area. Roads in outer area 2 are not public roads. Hence, the residents of outer area 2 are sent this document for information only.

Please read through the consultation document, check the maps provided in that document, and then complete the appropriate questionaire:
All residents are also welcome to attend a public exhibition (detailed below) where parking plans for the area will be on display. Council officers will be present to answer any queries about CPZ policies and proposals.

Your views are an important factor in the council’s decision-making process and contribute towards the decision to proceed.

The closing date for this consultation is 30 November 2012.

What happens next

The results of consultation will be considered on an area basis, as opposed to street by street. The introduction of a CPZ will be considered if the response rate of an area is 20% and over, and 60% or above of those who respond are in favour of a CPZ, implementation will be considered.

If the response rate is 20% or above, but those in favour is less than 60%, then a CPZ will be considered if measures can be taken to limit the problems being pushed into streets neighbouring the proposed areas.
