"Harlesden sits on the A404 snaking out of west London on its way to Wembley and Harrow. Six miles from central London, it is within sight of Old Oak Common, set to become the scene of major transformation over the next 20 years.

"The new Crossrail train station at Old Oak will become an important transport hub with an interchange with High Speed 2 in 2026 and possible new links with the Overground and Tube. Mayor Boris Johnson has unveiled a masterplan proposing up to 19,000 new local homes and 90,000 new jobs.

"Brent council, meanwhile, is working with the Harlesden Town Team, a local community group including TV documentary-maker Louis Theroux, to design and implement the Harlesden Town Charter, a plan to improve the area over the next 10 years."
